Miliki utilizes compression techniques that are optimized for different data contents and types. Digitized image data is compressed with a particular set of algorithms while textual data is compressed using a different set. The algorithms utilize smart methods for deciphering the nature of the data. For example, embedded image objects, such as photo realistic images, are automatically recognized and treated differently from line art images (e.g., engineering drawings). Special documents (e.g., Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) are decomposed into their respective constituents, such as embedded formulas, tables, text, images etc, and each is compressed with a scheme developed specifically for the component. The net effect of using these smart methods is a data size reduction that far exceeds the result obtained by using common compression schemes.

Faster Transmission of Data:
The Miliki Super Compressor reduces the bandwidth and time required to transmit data. This results in faster downloads and uploads over narrow band connections, thereby enabling remote users with wireless internet connections to transmit a combination of large images and text. When a file is compressed with Miliki, it is converted to the LAFE Compressed File (QCF) format. When decompressed, the file is restored to its original format.
