How It Works?
Miliki uses a Content Sensitive Approach to identify
and decompose a data type to suitable constituents
for effective compression. For example, an image is automatically grouped into one of many classes of
pictures such as photo realistic, natural, line drawing, bi-tonal etc. Documents are also decomposed into
constituent classes such as text, tables, formulas, embedded pictures etc. Miliki then selects from the suite
of algorithms and filters the best scheme for compressing each component. This approach achieves
significantly higher compression than other popular techniques such as ZIP.
Benefits of Miliki
Faster Transmission of Data:
The Miliki Super Compressor reduces the bandwidth and time required to transmit data. This results
in faster downloads and uploads over narrow band connections, thereby enabling remote users with
wireless internet connections to transmit a combination of large images and text. When a file is
compressed with Miliki, it is converted to the QCF format. When decompressed,
the file is restored to its original format.
Storage space reduction:
Miliki minimizes storage requirements for common data formats. The Miliki Super Compressor is
able to significantly compress various data formats enabling desktop or laptop users to send, receive and
store email, word processing documents, presentations, spreadsheets, images of documents, digital
photographs, satellite imagery, data from scientific instruments, digital engineering and architectural
drawings, models.
